Switch to Wachovia

Welcome to Wachovia. If you’ve recently moved or want to change banks, it’s not easy to know where to start. That’s why we’ve developed the Wachovia Switch Kit, a step-by-step checklist. It will help simplify your transition while ensuring your complete satisfaction from the beginning.

The Wachovia Switch Kit is the easy way to change your checking account.

1. Open your Wachovia checking account.
Compare our checking accounts online or by visiting a Financial Center.

2. Stop actively using your former account.
As soon as possible, you should stop writing checks, initiating payments, and using your ATM card or Check Card from your former checking account.

3. Let us switch your direct deposit for you.
Let us notify your employer, or other source that deposits funds into your old account, that you would like to switch banks. To set up direct deposit, you will need:

Simply complete the Direct Deposit Application online. There is no limit to the number of direct deposits you can set up.

4. Make payments just the way you like.
Now that you’re switching banks, it’s a great time to think about how you would like to make your mortgage, cell phone bill, and other payments.

In addition to cash, there are a number of ways to make payments, including:

5. Complete the Payments/Transfers Worksheet.
To help you identify checks, automatic payments and transfers you were making with a former checking account and to help you decide which payment methods work best for you going forward, use this helpful Payments/Transfers Worksheet.

6. Establish or change your Payments/Transfers.
Try contacting your billers online or by phone. If acceptable, you can contact companies by mail. You will need:

7. Close your former bank account.
Make sure all outstanding checks and debits have cleared before closing your old account. Contact your former bank for instructions on closing your account. If acceptable, you can use the form and provide:

You’re done.
If you have any questions, please feel free to stop by a Financial Center or call us at 800-WACHOVIA (800-922-4684).
